Can condo fees in Ottawa randomly increase? Not ex Can condo fees in Ottawa randomly increase? Not exactly… but they can change more than some buyers expect. 👀

Condo fees are based on the actual costs of running and maintaining the building — things like insurance, snow removal, landscaping, utilities, maintenance, and reserve fund contributions.

And while higher fees can sound scary, they are not always a bad thing. In many cases, it means the condo corporation is planning ahead and properly maintaining the building for the future.

The bigger red flag? Fees that have been kept too low for too long. 🚩

If you’re thinking about buying a condo, make sure you look beyond the unit itself and understand the health of the condo corporation too.
