The National Ballet of Canada : Romeo and Juliet | February 2 – 4, 2023

Few of Shakespeare’s works have translated so well to the beautiful language of ballet as Romeo and Juliet. Choreographed by celebrated Russian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, this particular version was commissioned to celebrate The National Ballet of Canada’s 60th anniversary in 2011. Deftly attuned to highlighting the narrative’s dramatic moments and the intimacy of the star-crossed romance, Ratmansky creates a dance drama with electrifying fight sequences and an unforgettable balcony pas-de-deux. This larger than life, sublimely danced production manifests the simplicity of Renaissance art through its geometric sets and period costumes.
Winterlude | February 3-20, 2023

Celebrate free Canadian winter fun at this epic festival which takes place in the Ottawa region during the first three weekends of February each year! During Winterlude, you can marvel at beautiful ice sculptures, skate on the world-famous Rideau Canal Skateway (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and play till you drop in a gigantic snow playground called Snowflake Kingdom. Many other Winterlude activities—indoors and outdoors—highlight Canada’s cultural and artistic diversity. Urban sites, museums and special events present special seasonal programming as well as opportunities to connect with Indigenous culture. Most festival activities are free and take place in the urban Ottawa-Gatineau region. Don’t miss Canada’s annual winter celebration in Canada’s capital!

RCMP Musical Ride Stables Open House | February 4, 2023

In 2023, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police marks 150 years of service to the public and security of the country. The Open House has been an annual tradition in the community since 1996 and once again a Winterlude partner event. Jack Whitehall is an award-winning comedian, actor, presenter and writer.
He most recently starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, and in Clifford the Big Red Dog for Paramount. Both films are currently in development for sequels. He will next star alongside Shailene Woodley in Robots, an independent romantic comedy directed by Academy Award nominee Ant Hines. Jack has also just finished filming the second season of the Apple TV+ hit comedy series, The Afterparty, opposite Tiffany Haddish, Zoe Chao and Sam Richardson, which will be released in 2023.
An acclaimed comedian who loves the stage, Jack’s Netflix special Jack Whitehall: I’m Only Joking was released in 2020. His biggest-ever stand-up tour, Jack Whitehall: Stood Up, sold out arenas across the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. Jack has previously sold-out venues across the UK on two earlier tours: Jack Whitehall Gets Around (2014) and Jack Whitehall: At Large (2017), also filmed for Netflix.
